Davis High graduate Jasmine Casillas, a member of the Sonoma State cross country and track teams, is one of two Seawolves to receive the 2020 Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award.
The honor is given annually to two athletes at each California Collegiate Athletic Association school for accomplishments in sports and in the classroom.
Casillas, a senior, recorded the highest GPA on both the cross country and track teams at SSU (3.94) during the 2019-20 academic year. She is a three-time CCAA All-Academic Team nominee.
Fisk takes Steele bow
With fingers crossed that there is a 2020 football season, the summer of watch lists is in full swing with former Davis High standout Tucker Fisk drawing attention.
The Stanford tight end has been named to the John Mackey Award watch list for the nation’s best at Fisk’s position. The Phil Steele Preseason All-Pac-12 selections have him on the conference’s fourth team.
Fisk, required to block in the Cardinal scheme, caught four passes for 30 yards and no touchdowns as Stanford went 4-8 last fall.
A 2017 graduate of DHS, Fisk was a three-time all-Delta League footballer and contributed to championship Blue Devil teams as a swimmer.
