Davis in a time of COVID

Che Sun, a UC Davis Ph.D. student in economics, captured these images of Davis during the coronavirus lockdown.

“I started photography in the summer of 2018 right before I came to UC Davis,” Sun said. “I went on my first photography trip in January 2019 and have been hooked ever since. Before the pandemic hit in March, I had planned to go to Death Valley during spring break, but traveling was out of the question.

“I had to make the best of reality, and decided to do some local photography and experiment with some new ideas. I brought a camera and a roll of film every time I went on a walk. These walks not only provided an opportunity for exercise, but also became an escape and a distraction from the stress of everything in the world.

“I didn’t have an ambitious goal for the photos — they are a portrayal of the town that I now call 凯发体育官方sporthome, as seen through my eyes during a strange and stressful time.”
